Judah and I first looked into training when he was just 6 months old. Initially, I was worried that he was too sensitive to receive professional training and unfortunately my reservations were confirmed when observing the training techniques of other local trainers. However, being the hyperactive vizsla that he was, I was desperate to find a true professional who loved my vizsla as much as I did. Fortunately, I came across Rachelle, the antidote to my anxiety. From our very first meeting, Judah was attached to Rachelle. For the next several months Rachelle worked with Judah through her private lessons and doggy boot camp where he was transformed from an uncontrollable tornado to an obedient, happy, and healthy puppy! When I met Rachelle, she was my last hope for my rescue lab. He had bitten me and he was leash aggressive, but I didn’t want to give up on him. Rachelle knew exactly what Hunter needed and knew how to teach him to relax. Her teaching methods incorporated the right balance of correction and praise. Every dog is different and I have learned by watching Rachelle that she adapts her training based upon the needs of the dog and concerns of the owner. Our first Old English Sheepdog lived to be 14 years old, therefore we lived with a senior dog for many years. After she passed on and we decided to get another OES, we found Poppy. She was very loving, attentive and smart but also very active, jumpy, rambunctious and did excessive barking. What a difference for us. We immediately enrolled in a large training program but neither Poppy nor we had any success.
We decided to look for a personal trainer that would be able to achieve quick results without breaking Poppy's happy go lucky personality. We asked our Veterinarian and groomer for a referral and they both told us Rachelle and Peek a Boo Paws. Rachelle had the perfect personality for both us and Poppy. She was straight forward, honest, extremely friendly and truly knew what she was doing. Her training not only transformed Poppy but helped teach us how to continue her training.
Rachelle has taught Poppy all of the basic skills of sit, stay, down, leave it and heel in just a few short visits. She has taught her not to jump on people or other dogs, lunge at cars and people or do excessive barking. Poppy is still a very playful, friendly dog with a wonderful personality, but now has discipline. Now when we go walking and pass by other dogs, doing all those things Poppy used to do, we hear the owners say "look at that dog, how nice it's behaving." As we keep strolling by I say good girl to Poppy and think Thank You Rachelle.
Poppy has now become a Therapy Dog and a Certified Canine Good Citizen. This would never have been possible if it were not for Rachelle's expertise and genuine caring for us. She is just amazing. We will always highly recommend Rachelle as a personal trainer and always be very thankful and grateful to her for helping us with our fur child, our Poppy.
